#ADOS was started by the brain trust of Howard graduate and host of the Breaking Brown political show, Yvette Carnell, and UCLA alumnus and attorney, Antonio Moore who hosts the weekly radio show Tonetalks. ADOS—which stands for American Descendants of Slavery—seeks to reclaim/restore the critical national character of the African American identity and experience, one grounded in our group’s unique lineage, and which is central to our continuing struggle for social and economic justice in the United States.
As a specific group with a specific justice claim, the #ADOS movement demands a specific agenda with policy prescriptions that address the losses stemming from the institution of slavery, Jim Crow, redlining, convict leasing, mass incarceration, and immigration.#ADOS demands Reparations with a real review of direct payouts needed to be made to eligible recipients from gathered data, and progress is made toward making #ADOS families whole.
Inspired by the YouTube Channel talk shows of Yvette Carnell -Breaking Brown and Antonio Moore - Tone Talks, in November of 2019 #ADOS Detroit, formed as a collective to push for a Black Agenda and Reparations as described on ados101.com at the local, state, and national levels.
Our focus is on policy and activism centered around the lineage of the American Descendants of Slavery. Our chapter is focused on 6 Key Issues around the Detroit Metro Area. Feel free to join one of our workgroups and get started today on the work toward reparations.
